Ipet is a goddess who protects and nourishes. She may be a personification of Thebes, and was thought to be the mother of Osiris in that city during the first part of the Old Kingdom. In art Ipet appears as a hippo who is standing upright on two lion's legs. She has human arms, the paws of a lion, large human breasts, and the tail of a crocodile. |
