Mehet-Weret is the cow goddess who rose from the waters of creation and gave birth to Ra, according to some accounts. She carried the sun god between her horns. Mehet-Weret is the personification of the river on which the boat of the pharaoh travels over in the Underworld. She is sometimes connected to Hathor and Isis. In art Mehet-Weret appears as a cow with the solar disc between her horns. She is often kneeling on a reed carpet and wearing a blanket and collar. |
